We went out in search of a restaurant recommended to us by another RR family- Felice's. It was kind of far away, and we weren't sure exactly where it was, but after about a 35 minute walk and only one wrong turn, we found it!
It's rare to find menus in English, or at least we have a hard time finding them. We have a couple places that we can go to, but none are very close to the apartment, and we have yet to find a favorite that we'd go back to over and over again.
Enter Felice's!
It's this Italian bistro, with seating inside and outside on the patio. There is one side in Russian, and the other side in English- HEAVEN! It is so nice to be able to peruse a menu...I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be hungry and to be able to decide what to have, instead of being surprised.
I'm sure you want to hear what we ordered...being a foodie, it's important to me: Bryan had a Hoegaarden, and I had green tea with mint, which came in a glass teapot with whole tea leaves and fresh sprigs of spearmint (AND the waiter poured it for me!). Bryan, of course, ordered pizza, but it was with spicey salami and roasted red cayenne peppers on a thin crust, wood-fired. I had gnocchi al funghi...fresh field mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. We had cheese straws to start, and the meals came with these crispy, thin, baked pizza dough strips that we almost like light crackers- so good! We had to pass on dessert because we ate every.single.morsel. of food at our table. Every bit. It's almost embarrassing...but you have to understand that we only really have one bigger meal a day. Really. I was kind of disappointed we didn't have leftovers, but happy to know that we'd definitely come back. So, yeah, future RR families who travel here: find Felice's, and eat here every day.
So, throughout the day, Bryan had been feeling sniffy- thought maybe it was allergies, but it's turning into a sinus infection he thinks. Bummer. Happy birthday to him, right? We went home and he slept the rest of the evening away. Poor guy.
Best part about the day: when we skyped with the boys today, Grama and Konni had prepared them to sing happy birthday to their daddy, complete with cake and a candle. Love seeing them, hate that we are missing things with them. I promised Bryan a real birthday party when we get back with all the people that we love :)
