Continuing on our random post for the day:
1- We are social butterflies here. We had tea with Leonid this afternoon, with a giant spread of fantastic foods with it. It is prime fruit season here, so he insisted that we try this melon...kind of a cross between a canteloupe and a honeydo. So sweet! The grapes at his house are also ready to be picked, and he served us hawthornes, which are a sweet red berry- I've never tasted or even seen one before, but they were super good (and good for the heart, he says!).
2- After tea with Leonid, we hopped on the Metro to meet the Clarks for dinner before Bible Study at their apartment. We had mentioned that we couldn't find a good Chinese food place here, so she made Chinese for us, complete with homemade egg rolls. No matter that we were an hour late (couldn't help it!) the food was great, the conversation was fun, and we so enjoy our uplifting evenings of fellowship with them and the rest of the group.
3- After group, we met with the Laynes for a drink and some wi-fi at Patricks. They just found out that they will have to wait for their second SDA appointment because of the decision that our judge made. Apparently there is some paperwork that is going to be filed on Monday stating that children under five that have Down syndrome are INDEED eligible for adoption, but until that time, the SDA is hesitant to issue referrals for children who fall into that category.
It was time for commiserating, laughing, talking adoption, and relaxing, which, despite all our free time here, is kind of hard to do when you are worried about being away from home, and stressed out that something won't go as planned in your already-messed-up-adoption-process.
Well, I guess it is our mission to open this door for all the families who will come in after us. My guess is, someone else would have been stopped, had it not been us. Will I get a SuperMom cape after we win?? ...or at least a t-shirt?
I think you absolutely should get the cape AND the t-shirt! :)
