Day 33 Random

Random happenings of late:
  • We went out for pizza with the Laynes, and Bryan and Doug both ordered the Bella Pizza off the menu.  On the English translation, it said it had ham, pineapple, onions, and banana.  We assumed that 'banana' was a bad translation of 'banana pepper', and the waitress even said something about 'pepprika' when we tried to ask about it, so we were pretty confident in our assessment.  But in true adventures-in-eating style, their pizzas came out topped with sliced bananas!!  Doug bravely ate his banana pizza without complaint, but Bryan (who is allergic to bananas!) picked his off :)  Never assume!

  • Through our contacts with the Bible Study group with meet with Tuesday nights, we've found a brothers of a friend of a friend who is willing to drive us to the orphanage for much less than what we've been paying up until now.  We have zero complaints about our drivers here- they've been really awesome, even helping us to translate when we are at the orphanage sometimes, and bringing us to the grocery store when we need it.  However, this will enable us to stretch our money out and we can visit Danila daily from now on, and spending time with him is our number one priority.

  • Looks like we will be here for another 2 weeks from now, if all goes well (no court date yet- just more speculation).  That is putting us approximately 10 days over what we were planning, which means we'll need extra funds for housing and daily expenses, and we'll need to cover more time off of work for Bryan when we get home.  Additionally, we'll have to buy Danila's plane ticket with less advanced notice, so we will be spending more money there, as well.  We'd like to put together a small fundraiser, maybe a giveaway, just to help balance these extra costs.  I'll offer up a gift bag full of European chocolate (hazelnut M&Ms included!), but if anyone else has any prizes you'd be willing to donate, please let me know, and I'll try to get something together by next week.
Thanks again for all your support, for those of you who've contributed financially, emotionally, to us and to our children, and for the many prayers and thoughts that have been sent out.  We love you all!  :)
